Past few years I've been fighting to have a career in a grant funded world that may come to an end in June 2017. I'll find out more this upcoming spring if we'll get the grant again or not. I want to pick up more side gigs to save to prep myself for whatever may come.
But by being absorbed into chasing an unstable career I have not taken the time to watch shows that I enjoy nor read much manga (or books in general for that matter.)
Towards the end of 2016 I got the flu and was practically chased out of the confines of my petite office. I spent that time curled up with my laptop and started watching Kiss Him Not Me! (which I plan to finish next year.) It made me want to read the manga which I quickly devoured on my new kindle fire.
I want to re-watch Fruits Basket this winter. When I was in college I used to love to watch it during winter break. I want to pay down my debt in 2017 but I also want to return to a place where I used to unwind with my favorite series along with discovering new ones. Whether I am in grant world full time for all of 2017 or just for half of it I want to focus on balancing career and life more.

What the Heck Am I Watching?? Fall 2012 Edition
The majority of the simulcasts I tend to follow are available on Crunchyroll. The first series that I decided to check out was My Little Monster. I've decided to keep watching as I find the main female character somewhat intriguing. I enjoyed that though it was promoted as a love story it's not unbearably over saturated with sparkles and sappy scenes.
Continuing series that I'm pathetically trying to stay current with are the following: Polar Bear Cafe, Poyopoyo, and Gintama (though I'm so far behind in that series I may not get caught up til next year.)
The title that has held my interest is Kamisama Kiss. I was happy to see the series added to Hulu to view, as the though of trying to watch any single episode on Funimation's site makes me cringe. As I have read the first few volumes of the manga series naturally I was curious to check out the anime and I'm glad I did. So far this has been my weekend pick me up. Despite the never ending list of other series I want to check out and/or actually finish (kdramas included) I'm very tempted to re-watch episodes from this series already.

What I'm Watching: January Edition
With in winter anime season in full swing there isn't much that I wanted to check out let alone watch a few episodes before deciding to keep or drop. So far I have been watching Ano Natsu de Matteru but some of the borderline fanservice elements, specifically at the end of the first episode make me question whether I will watch this title to the very end. Though it has intrigued me enough to continue, as I find it interesting whether it will take the route of fanservice or will it lightly thread into that realm.
It's a tradition for me to watch Fruits Basket during the cold winter months, and this year I did while battling the flu. Since there are few titles currently airing that I'm watching for the winter season I've been re-watching or attempting to get caught up with continuing series that I am behind in. Currently 100 episodes behind with Gintama so highly doubt I will be able to get caught up before the month ends, even with work slicing and dicing my hours.
Kiss already! I mean I wish they got along better >.> |

Drop It Like It's Hot!: Summer Anime Edition
Nekogami Yaoyorozu, also known as Cat G-d on Crunchyroll, is one of the selected few series from this season that I just couldn't tolerate enough to keep watching. I admit that I only checked it out because it has "neko" in the title. I thought it was going to be a cute fluffy series but it was just meh. I couldn't get into the plot from the first episode which was one of the main reasons for dropping it. At this time it's highly unlikely that I will be interested enough to pick up the series again, if I don't have a lot on my watch list for the Fall season maybe I will give it another try. But that's a big maybe since I have a ton of other older series on my ever growing to-watch list.
I haven't really seen much buzz about this show on twitter, which is either a sign that my pals on their aren't too crazy about it either or that it's just not as great as it could be. When the season if over I'd like to hear how others that stuck with it til the end thought of the series overall. I mean how bad can something with cat deities really be?
